This creation is, as you can see, about the iconic standoff between Gandalf the Grey and the Balrog In the first movie of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Fellowship of the Ring. I built this scene from when the the fellowship of the ring enters the stairway that likes to fall to when the balrog falls into the cavern. It was originally intended for a Lego contest a while back for a trip to Werner Bros Studios and some Legos. Unfortunately, I didn't win. ):

I managed to make the stairs fall and slide just like in the movie, and I made it so frodo can get across by leaning forward like in the movie. Keep in mind this is all I had of the Fellowship  when I made this and I ran out of the right bricks, like a black or a really, really, dark grey. I gave the towering dwarf colums a crumbling and old look to them. At least what I could do with my dwindling supply of bricks. The bridge is designed to break too when Gandalf does is little wizard stuff, and there are other cool details that are shown.

But out of all that, the Balrog is what I like the best. I worked on him first so I had all of the bricks I needed. Using joints from the Exo Force theme and other related parts, I made the Balrog move. His body I used black bricks with intermittent cristal fire looking bricks for a bit of a fiery look. I used technic bricks for its horns, and I used more black and crystal bricks to fmake his head. I unfortunately forgot that he had wings though.

You can see how I did his hands. Or are they claws, maybe even paws, well I will let you decide what to call them. And you can see I gave him a whip that comes up and gets Gandalf. But all that is very heavy, so I built a stand to keep him from wanting falling on his face.

This is the coolest creation I've seen so far. You've got me looking at my bricks and little harder and seeing what I can make from them! I'm going to be submitting some Lord of the Rings creations too.

Nice detail! This thing is huge! It must've taken you a while to build it. I like how you made your own lord of the rings movie out of legos!
